Fleas are a nuisance pest that are brought into our households by pets, mainly cats and dogs. Their bites can be an annoyance to not just our pets, but also to humans as some people can have nasty reactions which result in welts and rashes. On top of this fleas are also carriers of vector diseases such as bubonic plague.
How to control?
To control fleas the first step is to establish the cause of the infestation, which could be by neighbouring animals passing through the area, quite often feral cats.
The next step is to treat all infested areas using liquid insecticides in yard areas and in buildings, and dusting insecticides in void areas such as subfloors. Follow up treatments are recommended to ensure the infestation is eliminated.
